SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Eastern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Magway Region and Northern Shan, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mandalay, Bago Regions and Kayin State and isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (11.10) inches in Launglon, (4.37) inches in Taunggu (Aviation), (3.97) inches in Hpa-an, (3.95) inches in Ngazun, (3.78) inches Nyaunglaybin, (3.20) inches in Paing Kyone, (3.10) inches in Mahlaing, (2.91) inches in Dawei, (2.84) inches in Pyawbwe, (2.75) inches in Nyaung Oo, (2.63) inches in Phyu and (2.44) inches in Shwekyin.

 

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th July, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway Region and Rakhine, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw and Northren Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Taninthayi Regions. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (6-8) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuations of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States.
