SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Kachin, Southern Shan States and isolated in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Rakhine State. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (4°C) below December average temperature in Taninthayi Region, (2°C) below December average temperatures in Yangon Region and Eastern Shan, Chin States, (2°C) above December average temperatures in Upper Sagaing, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, (3°C) to (4°C) above December average temperatures in Lower Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kachin, Southern Shan, Rakhine States and (5°C) to (6°C) above December average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and about December average temperatures in Northern Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States. The significant night temperatures were (2°C) in Hakha, (6°C) each Namsam and Tiddim and (8°C) each in Putao, Kengtung, Mongyang and Falam. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (1.42) inches in Thandwe, (0.28) inch in Pon Na Gyun and (0.12) inch each in Myitkyina and Sittwe.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over South Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean still persists. Weather is cloudy over the South Bay of Bengal, a few cloud over the South Andaman Sea and Central Bay of Bengal and generally fair over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 21st December, 2022: Rain or thundershowers are likely to be scattered in Southern Shan State and isolated in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (60%). Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.
STATE OF THE SEA: Strong easterly winds with moderate to rough seas are likely at time in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in strong easterly winds may reach (30-35) mph. Sea will be slight to moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about (4-6) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight decrease of night temperatures in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Shan, Chin States.
