SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Kachin and Northern Shan States, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin State, scattered in Bago Region, Eastern Shan and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing Region and Southern Shan State and widespread in Mandalay,Magway, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay and Magway Regions and isolated heavy falls in Lower Sagaing Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Pauk (4.65)inches, Nyaung Oo (3.23)inches, Ngazun (3.00)inches,Myinmu (2.24)inches,Northern Dagon (2.20)inches, Natogyi (2.19)inches, Kungyangon (2.17)inches,Lunkyaw (2.05)inches, Myingyan (1.96)inches and Central Yangon and Thaton (1.85)inches each.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Central Bay and adjoining South Bay of Bengal still persists. It is forecast to further intensify into a depression during next (12)hrs.Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th OCTOBER, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan andChin States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw,Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Rakhine and Kayah States and widespread in Bago,Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions and Mon State. Degree of certainly is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6-10)feet in off and along Myanmar Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Rakhine Coastal areas.
