SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kachin State and widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Tanintayi Regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States and regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Yangon Regions and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Ayeyarwady and Tanintayi Regions, Rakhine and Kayin States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Hmawbi (5.00)inches, Myeik (4.69)inches, Ngathaichaung (4.57)inches, Northern Dagon (4.09)inches, Central Yangon (3.81)inches, Bago and Yangon(Kaba-Aye) (3.66)inches each, Thaudaunggyi (3.51) inches, Gwa (3.46)inches, Patheingyi (3.45)inches, Mingaladon (3.42)inches, Naypyitaw(Otarathiri) (3.19) inches, Hinthada (3.00)inches, Tamu and Maungdaw (2.94)inches each, Zalun (2.91)inches, Hlaingtat (2.87) inches and Thazi (2.85)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th September, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Kachin, Shan and Kayah States and widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Upper Sagaing, Yangon , Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Bago Regions, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional Squalls with rough seas will be experienced Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (9-12)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (4-8)feet in along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States.
