SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kachin and Eastern Shan States, scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Upper Sagaing and Magway Regions, Southern Shan and Mon States, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon Regions, Northern Shan, Chin, Rakhine and Kayin States, widespread in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions and Kayah State with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions and isolated heavy falls in Mon State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Launglone (3.54) inches, Myeik (3.42)inches, Yay (3.15)inches, Dawei (2.57)inches, Kunglong (2.36)inches, Kyarinseikgyi (2.07) inches, Thazi (1.96)inches, Patheingyi (1.85)inches, Hainggyikyun (1.69)inches and Natogyi (1.57)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 21stAugust, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway Region and Eastern Shan State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Kachin, Shan (North and South), Chin and Rakhine States and widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-11)feet Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (5-7)feet along Rakhine Coast.
