SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Rakhine State, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Yangon Regions, Kachin and Chin States and widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Bago, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with isolated heavy falls in Mandalay and Yangon Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Coco-Island (4.80) inches, Tamu (2.24)inches, Hkamti (2.12)inches, Kyaukse (1.96)inches, Yay (1.77)inches, Thaton (1.50) inches, Lunkyaw (1.42)inches, Kawkayeik (1.34)inches, Madauk and Myitthar (1.26)inches each, Nyaunglaybin (1.23)inches and  Paung (1.18)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast(India) still persist. Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20thAugust, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions and Shan State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, and Tanithayi Regions, Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States and widespread in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30) to (35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (7-10)feet in along Myanmar Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States.
