SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Magway Region, scattered in Naypyitaw, Sagaing Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and  Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin State and widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine and Mon States with isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions and Mon State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Hkamti (3.82)inches, Paung (3.35)inches, Kawthong (3.11)inches, Shanywarthit (2.65)inches, Moekok (2.08)inches, Taungkok (1.93)inches, Kyaukpyu (1.81)inches, Bhamo and Zalun (1.69)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 16thAugust, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon Regions, Southern Shan and Rakhine States and widespread in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon -Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8 - 10)feet in Gulf of Mottama, along Mon - Taninthayi Coast and (5 - 7) feet in Deltaic, along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal.
