SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been Scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing Region, Kachin and Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagiang and Mandalay Regions and Rakhine State and widespread in Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, (Southern&Eastern) Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Mon State and isolated heavy falls in Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin and Kayin States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Yay (5.15) inches, Dawei (4.76)inches, Launglone (4.40)inches, Paung (4.33)inches, Hainggyikyun (4.17)inches, Kyeikkhame (3.82)inches, Machanbaw (3.23)inches, Hpa-an (3.19)inches, Thaton (3.11)inches, Mawlamyine (3.03)inches and Myeik (2.84)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area still persists over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal and Odisha Coast (India). It is forecast to further intensify into a depression during next (24)hrs. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th July, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing Region and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Northern Shan State, Chin and Rakhine States and widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, (Southern &Eastern)Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions and Southern Shan States. STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (9 - 14) feet along Myanmar Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine State.
