SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Sagaing, Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin and Chin States, rain or thundershowers has been widespread in Southern Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Eastern Shan State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Yangon Region. Night temperatures were (3°C) to (4°C) above January average temperatures in Mandalay and Ayeyarwady Regions, Northern Shan and Rakhine States, (5°C) to (6°C) above January average temperatures in Bago Region, Kayin and Mon States, (7°C) to (8°C) above January average temperatures in (Southern and Eastern)Shan and Kayah States and about January average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (2°C) in Hakha, (4°C) in Putao, (5°C)in Tongzan, (6°C) each in Machanbaw, Ramthlo and Tiddim. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Coco Island (3.50)inches, Loilin (0.55)inch, Heho and Mongyang (0.35)inch each, Taunggu (0.31)inch, Loikaw (0.24)inch and Kengtung (0.19)inch.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal is centered at about (110)miles Southwest of Coco Island, (235) miles Southwest of Hainggyikyun (Myanmar) and (80)miles Northwest of Port Blair(India). Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and partly cloudy elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 8th January, 2019: Weather will be partly cloudy in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State. Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Taninthayi Region and Chin State, scattered in Lower Sagaing Region, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States and widespread in Southern Shan State with isolated heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Occassional Squalls with rough seas will be experienced Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about (4-7) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon –Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Scattered to fairly widespread rain or thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States.
