SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Deltaic areas, South and East Central Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Mandalay Region and Rakhine State, fairly widespread in Magway and Bago Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin and Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Magway and Taninthayi Regions. Day temperatures were (2°C) above May average temperatures in Kayah and Mon States, (3°C) above May average temperatures in Rakhine State, (2°C) below May average temperature in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperature were (40°C) each in Chauk and Ann. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Yangon (North Dagon) (8.07)inches, Phyarpon (6.46)inches, Labutta (5.20)inches, Myeik (3.79)inches, Yangon (Mingaladon) (3.31)inches, Moekok (3.22)inches, Hmawbi and Maubin (3.03)inches each, Moemate (2.32) inches, Yangon (Kaba-aye) (2.24)inches, Kalay and Central Yangon (2.16)inches each.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Central and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has further intensified into a depression and it is centered at about (230)miles West of Coco-Island and (330)miles Southwest of Pathein and (370)miles South-Southwest of Kyaukphyu (Myanmar), (480)miles South-Southwest of Chittagong (Bangladesh) and forecast to move North-Northeast wards. It is forecast to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next (24)hrs. Monsoon is moderate over the East Central Bay of Bengal and strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 29th May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread Sagaing, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Reagions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Bago Region, Kachin, Rakhine, Kayah and Kayin States and scattered in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, isolated heavy falls in Mandalay, Magway, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine and Mon States. STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h.
