SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hrs, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan and Rakhine States and rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Mon State, scattered in Naypyitaw and Kayin State, isolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Mon State. Day temperatures were (5°C) to (6°C) above May average temperatures in Kachin, Chin and Kayah States, (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Rakhine and Mon States, (2°C) above May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperature were (43°C) each in Chauk and Gangaw, (42°C) each in Myinmu, Taungdwingyi and Bawlakhae and (41°C) each in Yamethin and Aunglan. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Thaton (3.35)inches, Belin (1.34) inches, Mawlamyine and Kyeikkhame (0.94)inch each, Paung and Chaungsone (0.87)inch each, Hlaingdet (0.79)inch, Hpa-an and Myeik (0.63)inch each.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Southwest Bay and partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Mon State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayah and Kayin States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States.
