SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kachin and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Launglon (9.29)inches, Dawei (8.22)inches, Hainggyigyun (7.20)inches, Shwekyin (5.82)inches, Mudon (5.31)inches, Kawkareik (5.24) inches, Kyeikmayaw (4.87)inches, Belin (4.61)inches, Kya-In-Seikkyi (4.38)inches, Paingkyone (4.09)inches, Myeik (4.05)inches, Kyeikdon (4.02)inches, Shan-Ywar-Thit (3.66)inches, Naypyitaw( Dekkhinathiri) (2.64)inches and Shwegone (2.44)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19thAUGUST, 2018: Rain will be fairly widespread in Sagaing Region, Northern Shan and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Mandalay, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, (Eastern and Southern)Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35 - 40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about (5 -8) feet in off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Strong monsoon.
