29-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL”. It is centered at about 680 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 160 Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai and 150 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Puducherry (India). Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea.

Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm

            According to the observations at (18:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" over the Westcentral Bay has moved North-Northeastwards. It is centered at about (330)miles South-Southwest of Puri, (200)miles South- Southeast of Vishakhapatnam (India). It is forecast to move North-Northeastwards.

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage.

            Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" is located at Latitude (14.5) degree North and Longitude (84.1) degree East, centre pressure of Very Severe Cyclonic Storm is (960)hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (110)miles per hour at (18:30) hrs MST today.

During next (72)hrs forecast

            It is forecast to move North- Northeastwards and cross ODISHA Coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali during next (72)hours.

General caution

Under the influence of the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI", rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon,  Ayeyarwady and Thanintharyi Regions, Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, isolated to scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Shan and Kayah States with regionally and isolated heavy falls in some areas within next (72)hours commencing today night.

             Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (10-13) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

            Under the influence of the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI", people should be awared domastic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
