24-11-2024: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked low pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial India Ocean still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, it is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu (India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, South Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the observations at (17:30)hrs M.S.T today, the depression over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northeastwards and it is centered at about (210) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Coco Island, about (330) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Hainggyikyun, about (370) Nautical miles Southwest of Dawei, about (330) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Kawthaung (Myanmar), about (415) Nautical miles Southwest of Yangon, about (80) Nautical miles North of Nicobar Islands and about (60) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Port Blair (India).

            It will move towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the depression is coded orange stage.

Position of depression, center pressure and wind

            Depression is located at Latitude (10.6)degree North and Longitude (93.0) degree East, center pressure of depression is (1002) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (35-40) miles per hour at (17:30)hrs MST today.

During next (36) hrs forecast

            The depression is likely to move Northwards along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands and forecast to intensify into a deep depression during next (24) hrs and into a cyclonic storm during next (36) hrs. It may lead to near Coco Island in the evening of (21.3.2022), near Hainggyikyun, Ayeyarwady Region in the morning of (22.3.2022)and near Rakhine coast in the evening of (22.3.2022), Myanmar.

General caution

           Due to the depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States with regionally and isolated heavy falls in some Regions and States during  today evening  to (22.3.2022). Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (9-12) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

          Due to the depression, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind and domastic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
