22-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move West-Southwestwards and reach to Southwest Bay of Bengal(North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts)India during 24-12-2024. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal partly and a few cloud to partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Depression Condition

According to the observations at (10:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal (off North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha, India) moved West-Northwestwards and intensified into a Depression. It is centered at about 570 Nautical miles West-Northwest of Hainggyigyun, 565 Nautical miles West  of  Thandwe (Myanmar), 75 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Vishakhapatnam, 110 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Gopalpur and 55 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Kalingapatnam (India).

Since it is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Depression is located at Latitude 17.5 degree North and Longitude 84.5 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1000 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 30-35 miles per hour at (10:30) hrs MST today.

During next (24) hrs forecast

The Depression is likely to continue to move West-Northwestwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts between Vishakhapatnam and Gopalpur close to Kalingapatnam (India) during next 24 hrs.

General caution

Under the influence of depression, squalls with moderatr to rough seas are likely at times in off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 30-35 mph and wave height will be about 8-10 feet.

Advisory

            Under the influence of depression, strong wind may occur off and along Myanmar Coasts and therefore trawlers, vessels and ships should be awared in advance.
