8-9-2024:: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Northwest and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move nearly Northwards and may further intensify into a Depression over the Northwest Bay of Bengal (off North Odisha- Gangetic West Bengal Coast, India) during next 24 hours.Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Depression Condition

According to the observations at (13:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal has reached Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha and adjoining North Andhra Pradesh Coasts. It is centered at about 420 Nautical miles West of Kyaukpyu, 380 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittiwe (Myanmar), 40 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Puri, 75 Nautical miles East of Gopalpur and 70 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Paradip (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Depression is located at Latitude 19.2 degree North and Longitude 86.2 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 996 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 30-35 miles per hour at (13:30) hrs MST today.

During next (36) hrs forecast

The Depression is likely to move Northwestwards and cross Odisha Coast near Puri (India) next 24 hrs. Thereafter it is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may recach to Odisha and Chhattisgarh (India) gradually weaken.

General caution

Under the influence of depression, rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine State with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States along with strong winds from today noon to 21-7-2024. Occasional squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 40-45 mph and wave height will be about 9-14 feet.

Under the influence of depression, people should be awared heavy rain with strong wind, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
