26-5-2024: According to the observations at (21:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” over North Bay of Bengal has continued to move nearly Northwards and centered at about (180) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Maungdaw, (220) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe,(Myanmar), (65) Nautical miles Southwest of Khepupara, (70) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Mongla, (Bangladesh), (65) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Sagar Island, (95) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Digha and (65) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Canning (West Bangal, India). Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and strong to vigorous over the Eastcentral Bay. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Depression

According to the observations at (05:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards and now lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about (540) Nautical miles Southwest of Coco Island, (640) Nautical miles Southwest of Hainggyigyun (Myanmar), (285) Nautical miles East-Northeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka),  (255) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Chennai (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

 The Depression is located at Latitude (11.5) degree North and Longitude (84.4) degree East, centre pressure of Depression is (1003) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30) miles per hour at (05:30)hrs MST today.

During next (36) hrs forecast

 It is likely continue to move slowly Northwestwards as a depression during next (6) hours and thereafter it is likely to move West- Northwestwards and weaken into a well marked low pressure area while moving towards North Tamilnadu-Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts (India) during next (36) hours.

General caution

Due to the Depression, squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35) mph. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

Due to the Depression, should be aware domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
