Depression

According to the observations at (05:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards. It is centered at about (525) Nautical miles Southwest of Coco Island, (640) Nautical miles Southwest ofHainggyigyun(Myanmar), (400) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka) and (465) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Chennai(India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

            The Depression is located at Latitude (8.5) degree North and Longitude (86.6) degree East, centre pressure of Depression is (1003) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (35) miles per hour at (05:30)hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs forecast

It is likely continue to move West-Northwestwards and further intensify into a Deep Depression around today noon and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm around tonight. It is likely to reach off North Tamilnadu-Puducherry and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts (India) around (8.12.2022).

General caution

Due to the Depression, rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and isloated in Naypyitaw, Magway Region and Shan (Southand East), Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States States from today morning to next (72) hrs. Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (5-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

Due to the Depression, people should be awaredthe rainfall with strong wind, thunderstorms, and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
