Depression

According to the observations at (17:30)hrs M.S.T today, Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal moved Northwestwards and now lies over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about (160) Nautical miles West of Coco Islands, (250) Nautical miles Southwest ofHainggyigyun, (350) Nautical miles Southwest of Thandwe(Myanamr), (185) Nautical miles Northwest of Port Blair,  (490) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Sagar Island(India) and (530) Nautical miles South of Barisal(Bangladesh).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

            The Depression is located at Latitude (13.9) degree North and Longitude (90.6) degree East, centre pressure of Depression is (1007) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (35) miles per hour at (17:30)hrs MST today.

During next (72) hrs forecast

 It is likely to move Northwestwards and intensify into a Deep Depression over Eastcentral and Southeast Bay of Bengal around (23.10.2022) and then recurveto North-Northeastwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over Central Bay of Bengal around (24.10.2022)and cross Bangladesh Coasts around (25.10.2022).

General caution

Due to the Depression, likelihood of rain or thundershowers fairly widespread to widespread in Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Mon States and isolated to scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and Shan, Kayah, Kayin States with regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from tonight to (26.10.2022). Frequently squall with rough seas will be experiencedoff and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40-45) mph. Wave height will be about (9-13) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

Advisory

Due to the Depression, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
