Depression
According to the observations at (09:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Eastcentral Bay has moved West-Northwestwards and further intensified into a Depression. It is centered at about 185 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Hainggyigyun(Myanmar), 410 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Sagar Island West Bengal(India). The centre pressure of Depression is (1004) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30-35) miles per hour.
It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.
Forecast
It is likely to continue to move West-Northwestwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm around 23-10-2024 and Severe Cyclonic Storm around 24-10.2024. Thereafter, it is likely to move Northwestwards and cross North Odisha and West Bengal Coasts between Puri and Sagar Island(India) early morning of 25-10-2024.
Due to the Depression, rain or thundershowers are likely to be fairly widespresd to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls and strong winds from today morning up to 24-10-2024.
Occasionally squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (50-55) m.p.h and wave height will be about (10-14) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
