Depression

According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Well Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial India Ocean moved West-Northwestwards and intensified into a Depression over South Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about (530) Nautical miles Southwest of Coco Island, (650) Nautical miles Southwest of Hainggyigyun (Myanmar), (360) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Trincomalee, (440) Nautical miles East-Northeast of Colombo (Sri Lanka)and (480) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Karaikal(India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

            The Depression is located at Latitude (7.7) degree North and Longitude (87.2) degree East, centre pressure of Depression is (1004) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30) miles per hour at (12:30)hrs MST today.

 

During next (48) hrs forecast

 It is likely continue to move West-Northwestwards and cross Siri Lanka coasts around (1.2.2023).

 

General caution

Due to the Depression, strong winds with moderate to rough seas are likely at time off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed strong wind may reach (30-35) mph. Wave height will be about (7-9) feet in off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

Due to the Depression, people should be awared strong wind and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
