Depression Condition

According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Deep depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved continue North-Northeastwards. It is centered at about (335) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittwe, (320) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Maungdaw, (Myanmar), (140) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Paradip, (210) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Digha (India) and (280) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Deep Depression is coded yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

The Deep Depression is located at Latitude (18.1) degree North and Longitude (87.4) degree East, centre pressure of Deep Depression is (1004) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (35-40) miles per hour at (17:30) hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs forecast

The Deep Depression is likely to move North-Northeastwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next (24) hrs. It may cross Bangladesh coast between Mongla and Khepupara on (18.11.2023).

 General caution

Due to the Deep Depression, rain or thundershowers will be isolated to scattered in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayah State and fairly widespread to widespread in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine States with isolated heavy falls in some Regions and States from tonight to (18.11.2023).

Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (7-9)feet off and along Rakhine Coast  from tonight to (18.11.2023).

Advisory

Under the influence of the Deep Depression, people should be awared of strong wind, heavy rain, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Rakhine Coast.
