22-12-2024:According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal almost stataionary and weaken into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area. It is likely forecast to weaken gradually over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Deep Depression Condition

According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved slowly Northwestwards and has further intensified into a Deep Depression. It is centered at about 380 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittwe, 410 Nautical miles West  of  Kyaukpyu (Myanmar), 85 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Gopalpur(India), 60 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Puri, 85 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Paradip, 115 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Chandbali and 175 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Digha.

Since it is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the deep depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Deep Depression, center pressure and wind

The deep depression is located at Latitude 18.9 degree North and Longitude 86.3 degree East, centre pressure of deep depression is 993 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35 miles per hour at (05:30) hrs MST today.

During next (12) hrs forecast

The deep depression is likely to continue to move nearly Northwestwards and may cross Odisha coast near Puri, India at afternoon.

General caution

Under the influence of deep depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Rakhine States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States along with strong winds from today morning to  12-9-2024. Occassional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 mph. Wave height will be about 9 - 12 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.

Advisory

Under the influence of deep depression, people should be awared heavy rain with strong wind, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.
