SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions,  Rakhine State, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Bago and Yangon Regions and widespread in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Kachin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Launglone (7.36)inches, Dawei (5.20)inches, Myitkyina (4.65)inches, Putao (3.47)inches, Kyeikkyame (2.64) inches, Yay (2.20)inches and Kawkayeik (2.05)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bangal and adjoining Odisha coast(India). Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19thAugust, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing Region and (Nothern and Southern)Shan State, widespread in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Eastern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30) to (35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (7-10)feet in along Myanmar Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin and Mon States.
