SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Naypyitaw, Northern Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, (Southern and Eastern)Shan State, widespread in Sagaing, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and isolated heavy falls in Chin and Rakhine States.The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Myauk U (5.20)inches, Dawei (4.09)inches, Launglone (3.86)inches, Paletwa (3.74)inches, Kawthong (3.23)inches, Zalun (2.72)inches, Putao and Kyarinseikgyi (2.52)inches each, Kyauktaw (2.48)inches, Chaungsone (2.36)inches and Maungdaw (2.17)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (13:30)MST today, Tropical Storm "Sonca" over South Chin Sea centered at about (70)miles North-Northwest of Danang and (150)miles Southeast of Vinh (Vietnam).It is likely to move Westwards.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 26th July, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Shan and Kayah States, widespread in Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon - Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40)m.p.h. Seas will be moderate to rough elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (10 - 12) feet in Gulf of Mottama, along Mon - Taninthayi Coast and (7 - 9) feet in Deltaic and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States.
