SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Magway Region and Kachin State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and Northern Shan State, Fairly widespread in Lower Sagiang and Bago Regions, Eastern Shan and Rakhine States and widespread in Upper Sagaing, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Southern Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with isolated heavy falls in Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions, Northern Shan State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Dawei (3.74)inches, Thabeikkyin (3.35)inches, Thipaw (3.18)inches, Hlaingbwe (2.91)inches, Central Yangon (2.81)inches, Hainggyikyun (2.68)inches, Hmawbi and Launglone (2.32)inches each, Kamamaung (2.30)inches, Myeik (2.08)inches, Manaung and Theinzayet (2.01) inches each.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha and West Bengal Coast (India) still persists. It is forecast to further intensify during next (24)hrs. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observation at (13:30)MST today, Tropical Storm "TALAS" over South Chin Sea centered at about (130)miles North of Danang and (215)miles Southeast of Hanoi (Vietem).It is moving towards West-Northwestwards.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th July, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway Region, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw and Mandalay Region, Kachin State and widespread in Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Rakhine State and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Northern Shan, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (9 - 14) feet along Myanmar Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States.
