SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Kayah State, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay and Magway Regions, scattered in Sagaing Region and Chin State, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and isolated heavy falls in Rakhine and Kayin States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Paing Kyone (5.66)inches, Thandwe (3.35)inches, Dawei (3.23)inches, Launglon (3.03)inches, Kyaukpyu (2.68)inches, Putao (2.64)inches, Gwa (2.36)inches, Shan-Ywar-Thit (2.21)inches, Sittwe (2.01) inches, Kawkareik (1.97)inches, Shwegone (1.96)inches, Yay (1.92)inches and Bhamo (1.89)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 31st AUGUST, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Kachin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States. STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (6-9) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about (4 -6) feet in off and along Rakhine Coasts.
