SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Eastern Shan and Chin States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Southern Shan and Mon States, isolated in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Northern Shan and Kayin States and weather is partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were (3°C) to (4°C) below May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan State, (2°C) above May average temperatures in Kayin and Mon States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (43°C) in Chauk and (41°C) in Bawlakhae. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Kyeikkhame (2.52)inches, Myaungmya (1.65)inches, Myeik (1.34)inches, Namsam (0.95)inch, Dawei (0.83)inch, Naypyitaw (Zayarthiri) (0.79)inch, Minesat (0.55)inch, Pyinmana and Kawthaung (0.47)inch each, Tiddim and Belin (0.43)inch each, Naypyitaw (Otarathiri) and Theinzayet (0.40) inch each.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Andaman Sea still persists. It is forecast to reach Gulf of Mottama and Adjoining Deltaic area during next (36)hrs. It is likely to further intensity into a depression. Weather is cloudy over the Andaman Sea and partly cloudy over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 02nd MAY, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Northern Shan and Chin States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, (Eastern and Southern) Shan State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7 - 9)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (4 - 6)feet along Rakhine Coasts.
