24-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, it is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu (India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, South Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Cyclonic Storm “Asani”

According to the observations at (15:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “Asani” over West Central Bay of Bangal has moved North-Northeastwards and centered at about (30) Nautical miles East of Machilipatnam, (130) Nautical miles Southwest of Vishakhapatnam, (740) Nautical miles West of Hainggyigyun and (755) Nautical miles West of Gwa (Myanmar).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is coded yellow stage.

            The Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is located at Latitude (16.2) degree North and Longitude (81.6) degree East, centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is (993) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (50-55) miles per hour at (15:30)hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs forecast

The Cyclonic Storm “Asani” is forecast continuous to move North-Northeastwards and reach to Kakinada andVishakhapatnam Coasts and then reach to West Central Bay of Bengal (off north Andhra Pradesh coast, India) during next (12) hours. It is likely to weaken gradually into a Deep Depression and then into a Depression around (12.5.2022).

General caution

Due to the Cyclonic Storm “Asani”, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, TaninthayiRegions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from today evening to (13.5.2022).Occasionally squall with rough seas will be in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35) mph. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and (6-9) feet Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast.

Due to the Cyclonic Storm “Asani”, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
