Cyclonic Storm
According to the observations at (18:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm (Gaja) over the East Central Bay and adjoining West Central Bay and South East Bay of Bengal has moved Westwards and now lies over the West Central Bay of Bengal.. It is centered at about (470)miles East of Chennai(India) and about (470)miles East-Southeast of Sriharikota(India).
It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage.
Position of Cyclonic Storm, center pressure and wind
Cyclonic Storm is located at Latitude (13.5) degree North and Longitude (88.2) degree East, Centre pressure of depression is (1000) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (45-50)miles per hour at (18:30)hrs M.S.T today.
During next (48)hrs Forecast
It is forecast to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next (24)hours and then towards West-Southwestwards during next (48)hours.
General caution
Due to the Cyclonic Storm, rain or thundershowers will be scattered to fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States within next (48) hours commencing today evening.
Squalls with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8 - 10) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
