30-11-2024: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards. It is centered at about 755 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 50 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai and 55 Nautical miles East-Northeast of Puducherry (India). Weather is cloudy over the Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea.

Condition of depression

            According to the observations at (09:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Central and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. It is centered at about (250)miles West of Coco-Island and (350)miles Southwest of Pathein (Myanmar), (500)miles South-Southwest of Chittagong (Bangladesh) and (520)miles East-Northeast of Chennai (India) and forecast move North-Northeast wards. It is forecast to further intensify into a cyclonic storm.

The present stage of the depression is coded Orange stage as it  may move near the Rakhine coast, Myanmar.

 Position of depression, Center pressure and wind

            Depression is located at Latitude (14.3) degree North and Longitude (89.1) degree East, Centre pressure of depression is (998) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (40-45)miles per hour at (09:30) hrs MST today.

 General caution

Under the influence of depression, fairly widespread to widespread rain of thundershowers in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States and scattered rain or thundershowers in the remaining Ragions and States with regionally heavyfall, isolated heavyfall and strong wind during next (72) hours commencing morning today.

Occasional squalls with moderate to rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h.

 

Advisory

Under the influence of depression, strong wind, heavy fall, flash flood and landslide may occur during this time.Advisory for people living near high land areas, small river and streams is to avoid landslide and suddenly rise the rivers levels. Domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts are advised especially to notice in condition of the depression.
