21-12-2024:According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal continues has moved East-Northeastwards. It is centered at about 510 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 230 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Visakhapatnam (India). The centre pressure of Depression is (1003) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30-35) miles per hour. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

“Post Monson Forum (Mon State)”

The opening ceremony of the “Post Monsoon Forum (Mon State)” which is jointly organized by Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) was held at (09:00) am on 14th December 2020 by Video Conferencing. At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Director General from Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Daw Khin Cho Cho Shein delivered the Welcome Remarks. After that, Emergency and Rehabilitation Coordinator from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Mr. Reda LEBTAHI were given the Remarks.

Representatives from Departments under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, departmental representatives from Disaster Management, delegates from UN, NGO and INGO, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and other departmental representatives; the total of about (50) participants attended at the opening ceremony.

The Workshop is focused on the reviewing of weather and water level conditions during the 2020 Southwest Monsoon Season, presenting of the seasonal outlook for the Northeast Monsoon Season (2020-2021), discussing and sharing the experiences and challenges on the usability of the seasonal forecasts and recommendations for enhancement of early warning system from service users and taking early action based on the seasonal forecast to response to potential disasters.
