SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Southern Shan State, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and Eastern Shan State and isolated in Mandalay, Yangon Regions. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (2°C) above December average temperatures in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon Regions and Kachin State, (3°C) to (4°C) above December average temperatures in Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Eastern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Mon States, (5°C) to (6°C) above December average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and (Northern and Southern)Shan State and about December average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (5°C) in Hakha, (9°C) each in Tiddim and Tongzan, (10°C) in Putao and (11°C) in Mogoke. The noteworthy amount of rainfalls recorded were (0.27) inch in Namsam(Southern Shan), (0.24) inch in Heho, (0.16) inch in Loilin and (0.12) inch each in Mongyang and Yamethin.
BAY INFERENCE : According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “MICHAUNG” over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal off South Andhra Pradesh and adjoining North Tamil Nadu coasts has moved Northwestwards and intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm “MICHAUNG”. It is centered at about (725) Nautical miles West of Coco Island, (790) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Hainggyigyun (Myanmar), (110) Nautical miles Northeast of Puducherry, (50) Nautical miles East-Northeast of Chennai, (85) Nautical miles Southeast of Nellore and (165) Nautical miles South of Machilipatnam (India). Weather is cloudy over the North Bay, Westcentral Bay and Southwest Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 05th December 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan State, scattered in Chin, Rakhine States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6-9) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated to scattered rain or thundershowers in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.
