SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern) Shan, Kayah, Kayin States, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mandalay Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (2.91) inches in Taunggyi, (2.10) inches in Mahlaing, (2.05) inches in Pauktaw, (1.93) inches Meiktila, (1.50) inches each in Ann and Chaungsone, (1.38) inches in Tamu, (1.30) inches in Launglon, (1.24) inches in Myebon and (1.18) inches in Paletwa.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Typhoon “Saola” over the South China Sea is slowly moving West-Northwestwards. It may reach the near Southern coast of China, Hong Kong during next (9)hrs.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 02nd September 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Kayah State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Northern and Eastern) Shan, Rakhine, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi and (5-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 02nd September, 2023:    Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is (100%).

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR WEEKEND: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and widespread in Yangon Region.
