SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing and Taninythayi Regions. Rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Mandalay, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Southern)Shan, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Bago Region, scattered in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin, Rakhine, Mon States, isolated in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mandalay Region and isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region.Day temperatures were (5°C) above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Chin State, (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States and (2°C) above May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States.The significant day temperatures were (44°C) in Chauk and (43°C) in Tamu. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (3.90) inches in Maubin, (2.99) inches in Kungyangon, (2.52) inches in Hpasaung, (1.91) inches in Thazi, (1.89) inches each in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw) and Tauntha, (1.70)inches in Nyauntone, (1.50)inches in Kyaiklat and (1.26)inches in Myingyan.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” over the Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northeastwards. It is centered at about (300) Nautical miles West of CoCo Island, (380) Nautical miles Southwest of Hainggyigyun, (470) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Sittwe, (295) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Port Blair (India) and (520) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh). Weather is partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 13th May, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and widespread in the Ramaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Bago Regions.Degree of certainty is (100%).
The Condition of Cumulonimbus Cloud: Due to the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” over CentralBay of Bengaland adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal, the Cumulonimbus cloudsare developing over the whole country. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squall with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (45-60) mph. Occasional squall with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40-45) mph. Wave height will be about (13-16) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and (8-12) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
