SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Eastern Shan State, widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, (Northern and Southern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with regionally heavy falls in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions, isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw and Chin State. Day temperatures were (2°C) above May average temperatures in Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, (5°C) below May average temperature in Upper Sagaing Region, (3°C) to (4°C) below May average temperatures in Magway and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin and Chin States, (2°C) below May average temperature in Lower Sagaing, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Eastern Shan State and about May average temperatures in Mandalay and Bago Regions, (Northern and Southern)Shan and Kayah States. The significant day temperature were (38°C) each in Platewa and Ann. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Phyarpon (4.56)inches, Hainggyi Kyun (3.74)inches, Mindat (3.66)inches, Kyaukhtu (3.47)inches, Monywa (3.31)inches, Maubin (2.99)inches, Chauk (2.83)inches, Mawlaik (2.80)inches, Kangyangon (2.76)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the cyclonic storm “MORA” over East central Bay of Bengal has moved to Northwards and centered at about (160)miles Southwest of Sittwe, (150)miles Southwest of Kyaukphyu(Myanmar), (270)miles South-Southwest of Chittagong (Bangladesh). It is forecast to move North-Northeast wards and likely further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during next (12)hrs. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea, South Bay and East Central Bay of Bengal. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 30th May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Shan and Kayah States, widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Chin, Rakhine and Mon States, isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin States. STATE OF THE SEA: Frequent squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (45) m.p.h.
