SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hrs, Southwest monsoon has advanced into the Southern Myanmar areas, Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather have been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw, rain or thundershowers has been isolated in Magway Region and Kayah State, scattered in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Southern Shan, Chin and Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay Region and isolated heavy falls in Bago and Yangon Regions. Day temperatures were (3°C) above May average temperatures in Ayeyarwady Region, (2°C) above May average temperatures in Magway Region, Southern Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States, (2°C) below May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing Region, (3°C) below May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (42°C) in Chauk, (40°C) each in Ann and Hinthada. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Bago (3.43)inches, Moekok (3.31)inches, Shwebo (3.23)inches, Yangon (Central) (3.15)inches, Yangon (Kaba-Aye) (2.91)inches, Kungyangon (2.64)inches, Thabeikkyin (2.32) inches, Yangon (Mingaladon) (2.20)inches, Khayan (2.00)inches, Paletwa (1.93)inches and Thipaw (1.61)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observation at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over the Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and weather is partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Naypyitaw and Rakhine State, scattered in Magway Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan and Chin States, widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Yangon Region, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with moderate to rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar water.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of rain or thundershowers in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions.
