29-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL”. It is centered at about 680 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 160 Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai and 150 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Puducherry (India). Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea.

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm

            According to the observations at (16:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved  Northwestwards. It is centered at about (320) miles East-Southeast of Chennai(India), (340)miles Southeast of Machilipatnam and (335)miles South- Southeast of Vishakhapatnam. It is forecast to move Northwestwards.

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage.

            Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" is located at Latitude (12.6) degree North and Longitude (85.7) degree East, centre pressure of Very Severe Cyclonic Storm is (972) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (90)miles per hour at (16:30) hrs MST today.

During next (48)hrs forecast

            It is forecast to further intensify into a Extreme Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" during next (12)hrs and forecast to move Northwestwards and then recurve North-Northeast to ODISHA Coast during next (48)hours.

General caution

Under the influence of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI", rain will be scattered to fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago, Yangon,  Ayeyarwady and Thaintharyi Regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States within next (72)hours commencing evening today.

             Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon- Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate to rough elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (10-12) feet Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon- Taninthayi Coasts and about (6-9) feet off and along Rakhine Coasts.

            Under the influence of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI", people should be awared domastic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
