29-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL”. It is centered at about 680 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 160 Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai and 150 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Puducherry (India). Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea.

Cyclonic Storm

          According to the observations at (18:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm "FANI" over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining the Equatorial Indian Ocean has moved Northwestwared. It is centered at about (380) miles East-Southeast of Trincomalee (Sri-Lanka), (535)miles Southeast of Chennai (India) and (630)miles South-Southeast of Machilipatnam. It is forecast to move Northwestwards.

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage.

          Cyclonic Storm "FANI" is located at Latitude (7.7) degree North and Longitude (87.5) degree East, centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is (998) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (50)miles per hour at (18:30) hrs MST today.

During next (72)hrs forecast

          It is forecast to further intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" during next (6)hrs and a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" during next (36)hrs. It is forecast to move Northwestwards and then recurve North-Northeastwards during next (72)hours.

          Due to the Cyclonic Storm "FANI", people should be awared domastic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
