Cyclonic Storm
According to the observations at (22:30)hrs M.S.T today, the deep depression over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and now lies over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and intensified into a cyclonic storm (PHETHAI). It is centered at about (320)miles Southeast of Chennai(India), about (415) miles South-Southeast of Machilipatnam and about (240) miles East- Northeast of Triconmalee (Sri Lanka).
It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the cyclonic storm is coded yellow stage.
Position of Cyclonic Storm, center pressure and wind
Cyclonic storm is located at Latitude (10.3)degree North and Longitude (84.9)degree East, Centre pressure of depression is (1000) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (40) miles per hour.
During next (24)hrs forecast
It is forecast to move North-Northwestwards and it may further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during next (24) hours.
General caution
Due to the Cyclonic Storm, rain or thundershowers are likely to be scattered to fairly widespread in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Shan and Chin States, isolated in the remaining Regions and States within next (48) hours commencing tonight.
Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at time off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (6 - 9) feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
