SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions, scattered in Mandalay Region and Chin State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Bago Regions, Rakhine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Kayin State and isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing Region, Eastern Shan, Rakhine and Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Belin (6.26)inches, Kya-In-Seikkyi (5.38) inches, Shwegwun (4.40) inches, Kawkareik (4.17)inches, Homalin (3.83)inches, Hlaingbwe (3.66) inches, Minesat (3.58)inches, Kyauktaw (3.46)inches, Hpa-an (3.19)inches and Kyeikdon (2.52)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th AUGUST, 2018: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Bago Regions, Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Upper Sagaing and Bago Regions, Kachin, Shan, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7-9)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about (5 -7)feet in off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States.
