SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Lower Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States,  fairly widespread in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, Shan and Chin States, scattered in the remaining Regions and States with regional heavy falls in Mandalay Region, isolated heavy falls in Rakhine and Mon States. Day temperatures were (3°C)  below May average temperature in Kayin State, (3°C) above May average temperatures in Magway and Taninthayi Regions, Eastern Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (42°C) in Chauk and (41°C) each in Myingyan, Nyaung Oo, Magway and Gangaw. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Chaungsone (3.11)inches, Ann (3.06)inches, Madaya (3.03)inches, Maungdaw (2.16) inches  and Kyaukmae (2.13) inches.   

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong in the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and weather is partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 19th May, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Sagaing, Region, Kachin, Shan and Chin  States  and scattered in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA:     Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS:  Likelihood of advance of Southwest monsoon  in the Deltaic  areas.
