17-12-2024: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal has further intensified into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 48 hours. Weather is generally fair over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain h‌ave been widespread in Eastern Shan State, fairly widespread in Kayah State, scattered in Taninthayi Region and Southern Shan State and isolated in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon Regions and Northern Shan, Mon States. Weather have been generally fair in Lower Sagaing Region and Chin State and partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were 3°C below December average temperature in Kachin State, 2°C below December average temperature in Chin State and 2°C above December average temperatures in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kayin, Mon States, 3°C to 4°C above December average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions, 5°C above December average temperatures in (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Kayah States and 7°C above December average temperature in Southern Shan State and about December average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were 0.0°C in Hakha, 5.0°C in Tiddim, 5.2°C in Putao, 6.7°C in Myitkyina, 7.0°C in Machanbaw, 8.3°C in Pyinoolwin and 10.0°C in Mingin. The noteworthy amount of rainfalls record were 0.75 inches in Loikaw, 0.71 inches in Kawthaung, 0.46 inch in Coco Island, 0.28 inch in Kengtung, 0.20 inch in Minesat, 0.16 inch in Pinlaung and 0.12 inch in Mongyang.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over South Bay of Bengal. It may further intensify and move West-Northwestwards and reach to Tamil Nadu Coasts, India during next 2 days. Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th December 2024: Rain will be scattered in Taninthayi Region and isolated in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Kayah States. Degree of certainty is 80%. Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at time in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Sea will be slight to moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 4-7 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight decrease of night temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin States.
