24-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, it is likely continue to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu (India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea, South Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Depression

According to the observations at (05:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has further intensified into a Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about 560 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 230 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Chennai(India). The centre pressure of Depression is (1002) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30-35) miles per hour at (05:30)hrs MST today.

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Forecast

 It is likely to continue to move West-Northwestwards and may cross North Tamil Nadu- South Andhra Pradesh coasts, near Chennai around 17-10-2024 morning.
