21-12-2024: According to the observations at (03:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Westcentral Bay and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal further intensified into a Depression and reached over Westcentral Bay of Bengal(off Andhra Pradesh coast). It is centered at about 565 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 230 Nautical miles South of Visakhapatnam(India). The centre pressure of Depression is (1003) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30-35) miles per hour. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (16:30)hrs MST today, the Tropical Storm “SOULIK” over  South China Sea has moved Westwards and is crossing Vietnam coast, North of Da Nang. It is likely to continue to move the inland areas of Vietnam. The remanant clouds and wind wave from the tropical storm start cross over Southeastern parts of Myanmar and then continue to move West-Southwestwards and it may re-initiate into a Low Pressure Area over the Andaman sea and Bay of Bengal on (20-9-2024).

FORECAST VALID UNTIL NOON OF THE 20th September 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Upper Sagaing Region and Northern Shan States, scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin, Kayah States, fairly widespread in  Mandalay, Magway Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Mandaly, Magway, Bago Regions and Southern Shan, Rakhine ,Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35-40 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.
