19-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal now lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 12 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 36 hours. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, scattered in Upper Sagaing Region and Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.76 inches in Phyarpon, 2.36 inches in Dedaye, 2.17 inches in Nyaung Shwe, 1.81 inches in Paung, 1.77 inches in Madauk, 1.34 inches in Myaungmya, 1.22 inches in Kungyangon, 1.18 inches each in Bago and Shan-Ywar-Thit and 1.06 inches in Kyaukpyu.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 29th August 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Eastern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin State.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30 - 35 mph. Wave height will be about 8 - 10 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5 - 7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS:  Strong monsoon over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal.
