SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, the southwest monsoon has advanced into the Deltaic areas, Southwest Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region and isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Mon State. Day temperatures were 3°C above May average temperature in Taninthayi Region, 2°C above May average temperature in Kachin State and 2°C below May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kayah State, 3°C to 4°C below May average temperatures in Yangon Region and Shan, Chin, Mon States, 5°C to 6°C below May average temperatures in Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 39.1°C in Hkamti, 38.0°C in Machanbaw, 37.5°C in Minbu, 37.3°C in Zaung Tu, 37.2°C in Chauk, 36.8°C in Mandalay, 36.6°C in Putao and 36.0°C each in Shwebo, Kyaukse(Lunkyaw) and Tada U(Aviation-Met) on 25-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.72 inches in Einme, 4.20 inches in Kyaukhtu, 3.87 inches in Ngapudaw, 3.83 inches in Mogoke, 3.62 inches in Theinzayet, 2.99 inches in Hainggyigyun, 2.87 inches in Maungaung, 2.74 inches in Wakema, 2.72 inches in Pathein, 2.59 inches in Shwekyin and 2.56 inches in Okkan.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “REMAL” over North Bay of Bengal has moved nearly Northwards and centered at about (180) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Maungdaw, (200) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittwe, (240) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Kyaukpyu, (Myanmar), (140) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Khepupara, (165) Nautical miles South of Mongla, (Bangladesh), (135) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Sagar Island, (150) Nautical miles Southeast of Digha and (155) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Canning (West Bangal, India). Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and strong to vigorous over the Eastcentral Bay. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 27th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kayin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region and Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon Regions and Kachin, Chin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 40 mph. Squall with rough to very rough seas at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (45-55) mph. Wave height will be about (9-12) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (13-16) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of advancement of Southwest monsoon into Central Myanmar Areas.
