SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Eastern Shan State, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Kayin State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Taninthayi Region, Kayah and Mon States and widespread in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin, (Nothern and Southern) Shan, Chin and Rakhine States with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw and Mandalay Region and isolated heavy falls in Magway and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Maungdaw  (4.49)inches, Naypyitaw(Yezin) (3.35)inches, Machanbaw (2.64)inches, Naypyitaw(Zayarthiri) (2.20)inches, Mogkoe (2.01)inches, Pathein (1.96)inches, Gangaw (1.93)inches, Mandalay  (1.89)inches, Pyinmana(Walgyi) (1.81)inches and Thazi (1.75)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (06:30)hrs M.S.T today, the depression which  crossed to the Odisha coast  moved North-Northwestwards as a land depression persists. It is forecast to move North-Northeastwards and weaken gradually into a low pressure area during next (24)hours. Weather is cloudy over the North Bay and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th OCTOBER, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Eastern Shan, Kayah and Kayin States, fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region, Southern Shan and Mon States and widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Reagions, Kachin, Chin, Northern Shan and Rakhine States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Sagaing Region and Chin State and isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kachin and Rakhine States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (6 - 9)feet in off and along Rakhine Costs, about (4 - 6)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Sagaing Region and Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 21th OCTOBER, 2017: One or two rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainly is (100%).

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR WEEKEND: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon and Mandalay Regions.
