3^rd Dekad Weather Forecast for May, 2026

Bay of Bengal Condition

 Southwest monsoon is likely to set in Deltaic areas during 21^st – 24^th of May, Central Myanmar area during  25^th – 30^th of May and the whole country during 31^st of May – 5^th of June. A low pressure area may form over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. During this period, monsoon will be moderate to strong. Weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy over the Central and North Bay of Bengal.

Rain Condition and Rainy Days

Rain or thundershowers are likely to be below normal in Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and about normal in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States.

Rainy days are expected about 8 to 10 days in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon, (Southern & Eastern) Shan States and about 5 to 7 days in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway,  Sagaing Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Northern Shan States.

Day Temperature

Day Temperature will be (1.5°C) above normal of May average maximum temperatures in Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and about normal of May average maximum temperature in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady,Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States.
