Depression Condition

          According to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the Depression over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal has moved westwards now lies over Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about 420 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittwe(Myanmar), 240 Nautical miles East of Visakhapatnam and 170 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Gopalpur, India.

          It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Position of Depression, center pressure and wind

          The Depression is located at Latitude 17.8 degree North and Longitude 87.0 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1000 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35 miles per hour at 05:30 hrs MST today.

Next 60 hours forecast

          It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and further intensify into a Deep Depression over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours and continuous to move West-Northwestwards and cross the North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha Coasts between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur (India).

General caution

          Due to the Depression, rain or thundershowers are likely to be scattered in  Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern) Shan States and fairly widespread to widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Southern Shan States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Rakhine States during to morning to 25-9-2026.

          Occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-12 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

Advisory

People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, Lightning strike, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and to make necessary preparations for inland water transport, domestic flight and irrigation dams.
